Although the brand iBuntu Opticians is a new name in Cornwall, our resident optometrist Sandhya Dharumpal has been working in Cornwall since 2005 practicing at many of the high street chain-store opticians across the county (initially based at the Dollond and Aitchision store on Lemon street).

PS: We often get asked where our name iBuntu come from?

iBuntu was established from the word Ubuntu which represents a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity.

Ubuntu (Zulu pronunciation: [ùɓúntʼù])is a Nguni Bantu term meaning "humanity". It is often translated as "I am because we are," and also "humanity towards others", but is often used in a more philosophical sense to mean "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity" (Source Wikipedia)
